For those with military ties, what are you hearing from the inside? Are people leaving?
I get why you'd want to be in the military. But it seems like being in the military has only negatives.
I think the best path is to leave the military full of trannies, lesbians and SJWs. The quicker everything goes left, the quicker the only outcome of a leftist society happens - destruction and hopefully re-birth.
About half my peers are out. The other half are now majors and pretty much locked in since grandfathered into the old retirement program. Some of them that are still in that are prior enlisted are just counting down the days til 20 years and getting out. Most of them figure they've already got 10 years or more in, whats another 10 to get a very very generous retirement plus a second career afterword.
The irony is that if you're driven, you can get out at a captain/major and make significantly more money within a short amount of time (2-3 years) and vastly outpace your earnings potential in the .mil. But most people are scared of change and get institutionalized...but thats a second topic.
Keep in mind the Marine Corps combat arms units are still the most white, southern, male of the services.
But yea probably 2/3 of the folks I know who got in pre-Iraq Surge or around the Iraq Surge like me got out.
I mean as far as why you would join the military... It's a way out and up. I got college paid for with out hurting my parent's finances, got to travel the world, and came out on the other side WAY ahead of my peers in terms of experience, mental faculties, and financially. It catapults you forward if you're successful.
It's still of value, and frankly not any worse than ANY major corporation. The kicker is that its our fighting force. I don't really give a hoot about what HR/corporate homo says about gay pride month. We aren't going to have drag time hour at work (though SOME companies do this and much more).... but you have to have a price.
Behind closed doors, atleast in my expereince, there's still a lot of gay bashing and non-pc interaction you'd expect.
There's still lots of quiet professionals just getting the things done that need to be and ultimately will take back the leadership within the organization.... after this mind rot is purged (which it inevitably will be once we get into an existential war)
