Yes, meth causes an enormous and unnaturally large dopamine dump. According to animal studies:
-food can cause a 50% increase in baseline dopamine levels.

This must be why people who have taken meth spend the rest of their lives wanting little or nothing else. I once spoke to a drug-court judge who said that, in his decades on the bench, he never saw one person who had come through his court room who had completely quit meth.
