I guess I'm biased because my judgment of other drivers is based off of their technical driving ability rather than things like courtesy or aggressiveness (with left lane hogging being an exception).

I would bet that most Americans would not be able to handle driving a stick shift, due to the level of focus and dexterity it requires and the fact that you can't have a free hand for eating fast food or using your phone. I admit it does suck if you have gridlocked traffic commutes every day
I agree that it would just be better if all cars had a manual transmission. If anyone can’t learn that skill they probably don’t belong on the road. I disagree about the not being able to eat fast food. I never had a problem eating fast food while driving a manual transmission.

I've noticed recently (today in particular) TONS of traffic on the road during the day... so bad that I need to wait at every intersection before i can cross the streets. I don't get it but I did start looking at the faces and they were all female drivers (housewives? ladies "working from home"? and therefore having more time in their schedules to go drink lattes or do some shopping? ) I don't know but it felt like Black Friday on the streets today.

We joke about the Taliban a lot, but really what *is* the societal purpose of allowing women to drive unescorted? You really can't justify it beyond "muh economy". I mean what other advantage is there?

I'm speaking for the average American. I was able to eat chipotle while driving one...

The average American would have trouble driving a manual Most can’t really drive an automatic. Although I would never want one the poor driving skills of the average person makes a strong argument for self driving cars.

I wonder what percentage of drivers in Latin America are women since most cars there have neither airbags or anti-lock brakes.
women in mexico are notoriously bad drivers. and there are still many women who do not drive. in general there are many times more accidents (car, bus , building collapse) in Mexico than the USA.
however, women who drive in the capital, Mexico City, are surprisingly good drivers, as they are used to dealing with crazy traffic
