That's quite eye opening. Thank you for your summary of Japan.I think globohomo saved Japan for last cause they knew it was the easiest. There will be zero resistance here.

As someone who has lived here for almost 30 years, I can say this is so true. Daily infections have dropped to negligible numbers and sill the Japanese are masked up 100%. Until someone in authority tells them to take off their masks, they won’t.Because Japanese people are completely incapable of forming their own thoughts or opinions on anything. They're the ultimate NPCs. They do what they're told, when they're told, and never question.
For the last two years there's been 100% mask compliance everywhere, all the time. Even people alone in cars, even people walking a dog outside...masked. I have no doubt most Japanese people are masked while at home, alone. I'm sure some even sleep in the masks.
When the government and media tell them that gays are totally cool and being gay is awesome, and there's no such thing as gender, those ideas will transform into hard scientific facts within days. Whatever one Japanese person believes, they all believe. They are the ultimate hive mind.

Why do you think that the Chinese are so well aware of the subversion of gay movements (publicly this has been said and literally presented by their leaders as destabilizing influence in their adversaries/western nations), for example, and yet the Japanese are not? I would say that although they care quite different, they are still quite similar big picture, and do have very similar leadership that focuses on national interests and one would think, proper family formation as a demographic necessity for the future. As someone who has lived here for almost 30 years, I can say this is so true. With the birth rate at suicidal levels here, you would think the government would crush the LGBT movement in its tracks, but no, it ain’t gonna happen.
I think the problem is that Japan is heavily influenced by the USA and admires America not realizing just how much has changed. China cares nothing about America and focuses on Chinese interests. Why do you think that the Chinese are so well aware of the subversion of gay movements (publicly this has been said and literally presented by their leaders as destabilizing influence in their adversaries/western nations), for example, and yet the Japanese are not? Mercy, is that sad. And it seems accurate, even sadder.Because Japanese people are completely incapable of forming their own thoughts or opinions on anything. They're the ultimate NPCs. They do what they're told, when they're told, and never question.

Yes, Japan is a conquered country and underwent a psychological shock after their defeat.
They went from dive bombing themselves into enemy carriers to playing video games 24 hours a day.
This is all true. Compared to the West, Japan is golden.Which is a good thing for society BTW. It is easy to be critical on Japan meanwhile Europe (and USA) is in shambles LOL. At least in Japan there is still some sort of culture and "good" about society. Especially outside the cities. I think Western world used to have this sacrifice for the greater good as well but now you are surrounded by people who abuse goodwill, trust, etc. (e.g. minorities)
The way you put this is a bit harsh, slightly over exaggerated. For the most part though, you are right. From the beginning of this coronavirus scenario I thought to myself that "virtue signalling" is a synonym for Japanese culture. People are all in masks because they don't want to make other people feel bad, don't want to offend people.Because Japanese people are completely incapable of forming their own thoughts or opinions on anything. My Japanese wife wears one as soon as she steps out the house and until she gets home. I’ve tried to get her to at least not wear one while outside or driving but no luck so far. And despite her wearing a mask all the time she caught Covid and I caught it from her. It took her only ten days to recover, it took me six weeks. The way you put this is a bit harsh, slightly over exaggerated. For the most part though, you are right. It's brainwashing. Throw logic out the window, don't think for yourself or ask questions. I live here. I work at a university. I stopped wearing a mask totally a few weeks ago. I'm the only person on my campus that I've seen that doesn't wear one. No one even says anything to me. People don't care about the truth, is one problem.
I have an in-law (Japanese) who was wearing a mask in the house the last few times we got together this last year.
Are you a foreigner in Japan? If so yes it can be depressing. I know foreigners who got severely depressed in Japan even before corona. Now it is worse probably. The hivemind kicks up a notch in times of "crisis" (in this case fake - or at least nothing deadly) and I bet the public opinion of foreigners has gone down as well because of it.I got confirmation today that one of my co-worker's husband actually bathes and showers with his mask on. I was only half-joking when I wrote that, so I have to admit the fact that I was right was a little soul-crushing.
Not a single Japanese person I've encountered has ever complained about the masks. Not once. Even most of the foreigners who have been here a while are sheep and they just parrot what the hive is doing. I'm the only one that has it off my face before the 7-11 doors even open.
I honestly think the Japan we knew and loved is gone forever, and this will be essentially a Muslim country from now on where no one will be allowed to see each other's faces. They are so beyond "OK" with the idea...they downright love it.
I know in the US they let people think things were "normal" for a few weeks there with concerts and no masks and stuff, but it's all coming back around for them. For us, there was never even a glimmer of hope this would go away.
It's really affected me profoundly. I've gone into a pretty dark depression the last year or so. Only seeing eyes behind surgical masks, no faces, no humanity.....it's driving me insane. I never imagined wanting to leave, but if it just stays like this, it might push to the brink of sanity and I'll have to leave. At least in America some people are resisting. There is zero resistance here. They are The Borg.
Same here. I give zero shits what the Japanese think about me but for the most part they look up to foreigners (well…the white ones anyway). And no one has said anything to me about not wearing a mask on the trains here. But the depressing thing is what you said, there’s zero resistance to what’s happening and the mask wearing is here to stay I’m afraid.Yes, I'm American. I don't think I'd enjoy living in Japan as a Japanese man. Some foreigners can't handle always being looked down upon or being an outsider....I like it. Let them think I'm an inferior idiot....I don't care. I know I'm smarter than most of them. It's good to be able to get away with stuff, like Paisios there just deciding one day he'd had enough of the mask and he stopped wearing it. And if anyone with any actual authority tells him to put one on, he can just play dumb "huh? me? what? I'm just a foreigner, I don't understand..." and because they think so little of non-Japanese people you can basically get away with all kinds of stuff.
Not the lifestyle for everyone, sure, but I find it advantageous.
