The luckiest in this draw were without a doubt the French

Come on: Switzerland, Honduras, Ecuador.

If they aren't first of their group, they will be a total failure ( and Argentina will punish them, shall they finish 2nd)

Yeah, that's a joke esp considering they had to qualify versus a playoff. The Dutch already protested about this before the draw.

Seems like it's just somewhat random with a couple Groups of Death and then easier groups like France's. WTF?

Mexico will be out first round, which is good. They win a friendly against Spain/Brazil/Italy and think they are the best in the world. Their fans remind me of Packer fans.

That's not fair. The Packers have actually won something.

The US probably won't make it out of the first round. Germany will more than likely destroy them, I could see them scraping out a draw against Portugal, but they always seem to shit the bed when playing Ghana.

Im a Mexico fan and I don't think like that. You will be surprised that the average Mexico fan does not think like that either. Were just very passionate fans who love our team. No need to hate for that.

Germany is NOT guaranteed to get out of the group. The beauty about football is that anything can happen. Remember Bulgaria led by Hristo Stoichkov in 1994 knocking out reigning champs Germany, favourites Italy, and Argentina?

Croatia in 1998? Senegal in 2002? Etc.

My prediction, which can change at the drop of a referee not making the right call, a tired player mis-tackling an opponent in the 90th minute causing a defeat by a penalty, or any other wildcard:

Group A:
Brazil
Mexico

Group B:
Spain
Netherlands

Group C:
Japan
Ivory Coast

Group D:
England
Italy

Group E:
Switzerland
France

Group F:
Argentina
Nigeria

Group G:
Portugal
Ghana

Group H:
Russia
South Korea

The weather will be a factor and a lot of Euro teams will suffer.

There will be a few surprises like always.

My dark horse team is Uruguay

Remember no Euro team has one a WC on South American soil.

Dude, Germany are head and shoulders above every team in their group. Yes, anything can happen but they're the best team in the world right now. Primarily because most of the team plays for Bayern Munich, who are the best club side in the world. Similar to when Spain dominated, their core was Barcelona's core.

hah Germany will get out of that group with ease, the Portuguese are not that good, very reliant on Ronaldo and Moutinho feeding him.

France's group may seem easy, but the Swiss are one of the best teams in Europe right now along with Germany, Spain and Belgium, a lot of their squad play for top teams in Europe.

France have a remarkable record over the past 12 years. They often seem to scrape into the tourament and then surprise people.

In 1998 - they were hosting the world cup (which meant they didn't have to qualify). And they won it.

In 2002 - they didn't have to qualify (due to being the holders) and they fucked up. Due to Zidane not being fully fit.

In 2006 - they lost in the final.

In 2010 - they fucked up.

---------------------------------

To me they are a dark horse. They will either be terrible - or brilliant. Of course they don't have Zidane any more. But I think they have the quality to surprise people and get to the final (where anything can happen).

I dunno' - I'm probably talking shit. But I just wanted to thro it out there as another potential storyline to look out for.

Hehe, we also play in completely different ways when it's an international competition, every player starts playing 3x better than before. It may be complacent in the qualifiers but when it counts it almost always makes a few surprises.
Euro 2004 Final
WC 2006 Semi Finals
Euro 2008 lost with Germany in Quarter finals
WC 2010 Lost with Spain in last 16 (offside goal though)
Euro 2012 Lost with Spain on semi finals on penalty shootout

Somewhat safe to say we'll get through the next round, but being careful and serious is needed.

Argentina is better, but do not, by any means, give lesser chances to Bosnia, they are by far the 2nd best team in that group. What can hurt them is the super hot weather though. We have to take these factors into consideration.

Actually, Bosnia is VERY strong and Nigeria is the 2nd or 3rd best african team.

I think the Argentinians have it the easiest.

Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria?? Really?

True but this is Argentina were talking about here. I seriously doubt Argentina would struggle against Bosnia. I see them destroying Iran. Even if they get a tie with Nigeria or maybe lose, they will still make it to the next round if they beat Bosnia and Iran which I think wouldn't be a problem for them.

I think they will fuck up. Like England, they have a squad with very good players, however, they do not really have a team to go with it.

Brazil's weather will hurt the German team. North European teams suffer in the tropical humidity. They're the best team in the group by far no doubt.

But it's not all about the quality of the team. There's other factors to consider. Travel time between matches which can affect rest times, atmospheric conditions will affects stamina, there's latitude and so on. Germany plays all their games in Northeast Brazil. Ghana players will feel at home. So will the Americans and Portuguese. Either way it's just a guess.

European teams did great in WC 2010 because the RSAs winter felt like a balmy European fall day. That won't be the case in Brazil.

I remember a few years ago when Argentina went to Bolivia for a game, it was played somewhere that was too damn high, argentinian players could not even breathe properly, they ended up losing 6-1 ( I think) against a piss poor NT such as Bolivia! Never undermine these factors.

I expect Colombia to make it past the group stage and would bet money on it.

They're one of the seeded teams in the FIFA draw, and came a close second behind Argentina in qualifying. Brazil 2014 is as close as it gets to a home game for Colombia (unless/until they play Brazil, which could happen in the quarter finals).

They lack WC finals experience, unlike Japan and Ivory Coast who are at every World Cup. But I still think they will prevail in the group and advance.

Isn't this Colombia's first appearance since USA 94, the infamous shooting of the defender after the own goal.

Germany are usually fit for every tournament, I wouldn't put money on Portugal advancing out of the group. Ghana will thrive under those conditions.

Speaking of Aftican teams, surprised to see Nigeria back at the dance after there last WC showing.

they got rid of all those old washed up guys and have some young studs now, they actually won the African championship earlier this year.

I still think Ghana has the best African side at the moment
